On the other hand, I'd man...</title><content type='html'>Wow, what a great poem! On the other hand, I'd managed to completely forget that Selena is dead, so overall this post made me pretty sad.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;As an editor, dream sequences are a personal pet peeve. But that's only because they're usually a shortcut in service of the plot. "Can't figure out a way for your character to use her brain? Oh, just have the answer come to her in a dream!" Feh.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;But that only applies to weaknesses in plotting. For symbolic shorthand or insight into a character's state of mind, dreams can be an ideal device. And I imagine that goes double for poetry, where you often have narrative but rarely have a plot. I've used dreams in my comics, and will continue to do so.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;Isn't there something inherently dreamlike about storytelling, anyway?
